Humans like to look at accidents.
It is not for nothing that we tend to produce corkscrews for Galgalatz listeners because of curiosity near every car collision.
The first season of "Hate Susie" allows us to watch the accident, and another really, really glorious one.
Just like colliding trains, a plane crash or an erupting volcano - it is simply impossible to take your eyes off the disintegration presented in the main character series.
This marvelous comedic drama describes in eight stages the process of the crash of a star, who has just been given the role of her life, to play a Disney princess, but from that moment her life begins to crumble when a picture of her in a sexual act leaks to the internet, collapsing her marriage In the kingdom.
The perfect Billy Piper plays great in the lead role, and she returns to collaborate with creator Lucy Preble ("The Heirs").
In 2007 they made the successful series "Secret Confessions of a Top Whore" together, and later Piper also starred in a play written by Perebel and was nominated for awards in the UK, and the connection between them produces sparks.
Piper's involvement in the creative process is interesting, and it is not by chance that her series has received comparisons to the esteemed "Playbag" and "Destroy You", in which the creator also plays the main character and presents us with its internal complexes.
Her character, Susie Pickles, became famous as a child in reality singing, and when she grew up she was successful in some sort of zombie series;
Billy Piper also broke out as a pop singer at a young age - she conquered the charts at the age of 15, then re-conquered the British when she accompanied the Doctor (as Rose Tyler) in the iconic MDA series "Doctor Who".
Throughout the eight episodes of the season, which are divided according to the stages of mourning (astonishment, denial, fear, shame, guilt, etc.), Piper manages to delve into the meanings of what it means to be a woman in the 21st century.
The series delves into the hypocrisy of society and the entertainment industry, and touches on a wide range of difficulties that women experience in contemporary reality.
For example, why exactly did her world fall apart and not the world of the partner photographed with her in the photo, which was leaked to the Internet against her consent.
Susie breaks down, Susie crumbles, and eventually she is also rebuilt.
But it's not just Piper who is holding the series on her shoulders.
The soundtrack is excellent and makes sure to connect with the themes of those stages of mourning, on which the chapters are built;
The costumes depict the sleaze of celeb culture;
While the writing is great and light-hearted, and the humor is sarcastic and dark.
Since airing in the UK in August last year, the buzz around "Hate Susie" has intensified, and work has already begun on a second season.
As of yesterday it is available for viewing in the country, so far only on yes platforms.
