(ANSA) - NEW YORK, APRIL 05 - State of emergency in Florida.
A leak in a sewage reservoir in Manatee County, Tampa area risks causing catastrophic flooding.
State Governor RonDeSantis has already issued an evacuation order for hundreds of residents.
The risk is that a wall of water over six meters high could overwhelm homes and infrastructures close to an old phosphate mine.
According to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, although the waters contained in the reserve have high levels of testate and nitrogen, they are not toxic.
The first alarm occurred last month with losses.
The authorities have since begun to empty the basin, however a significant leak last weekend caused the alarm over the risk of a collapse of the levees.
