Chadwick Boseman has been awarded an important film award posthumously in the USA.

The American actors' association SAG (Screen Actors Guild) selected Boseman, who died of colon cancer last August at the age of 43, as the winner in the "Best Actor" category for his role in the drama "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" in a virtual show.

He was diagnosed with cancer in 2016.

In public he did not talk about his illness, instead he continued his work on major film projects in Hollywood.

He became world famous as a black superhero in the comic book adaptation of "Black Panther".

The science fiction action film, produced by Marvel Studios, was released in theaters in February 2018 and became a huge success worldwide.

Boseman became the first black superhero in Marvel Studios history.

In total, the SAG awarded prizes in 13 categories on late Sunday evening.

The association selected the South Korean actress Youn Yuh-jung as best supporting actress for her appearance in the film "Minari".

The twelve-year-old Berliner Helena Zengel was also nominated in this category.

The student can be seen in the western "News from the World" at the side of Tom Hanks.

Hanks plays a messenger in 1870 who meets the orphaned Johanna (Zengel), raised by an indigenous people.

Zengel made her English-language debut, directed by Paul Greengrass.

The role earned her a lot of attention in Hollywood.

The young star had his first big success two years ago with the German film »Systemsprenger«.

With her role in »News from the World« she had already received nothing when the Golden Globes were awarded.

Anya Taylor-Joy was voted best series actress.

She received the award for her role in the Netflix show "Queen's Gambit".

In it Taylor-Joy plays the orphan girl Beth Harmon, who is growing into a global chess star and at the same time struggles with addiction problems.

The prizes, which the renowned actors' association has awarded for the 27th time this year, are the forerunners of the Academy Awards, which will not take place until the end of April this year.

The association has numerous members of the Oscar Academy.

For example, Joaquin Phoenix ("Joker") and Renée Zellweger ("Judy") won the SAG trophies for best leading actor last year - and a short time later they also won the Oscars.
