In April, 8 million doses of vaccine are expected to be delivered in Italy

, i.e. almost 20% of all arrivals scheduled in the second quarter (April-June) of 2021, over 40 million doses (compared to the National Plan it will not be possible to count on over 7 million doses of Curevac, a vaccine still beyond approval).

In the first quarter, about 14 million 'shots' arrived, compared to the 28 million envisaged by the contracts, half.

Pfizer sent the 8.7 million doses agreed by March 31 - albeit with some intermediate delays - and Moderna with its 1.3 million.

AstraZeneca delivered just a quarter - 4 million - of the promised doses, 16 million.

Beyond the deliveries of Pfizer and AstraZeneca scheduled this week, the new Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine will be distributed in Europe from 19 April and 400,000 doses are initially planned for Italy.

The 8 million doses of the current month - including those of Moderna - are starting to be considered insufficient by the Regions to reach the 500,000 doses scheduled for the end of April.

The campaign brought injections to 11,156,326 (6,617,620 to women, 4,538,706 to men), about 6 million of which in March alone.

There are 3,463,295 people immunized with two doses.

At the current rate - 240,000 vaccinations per day on average, the peak with over 291,000 on March 31 - herd immunity would only be achieved at the beginning of 2022. For this it is essential to accelerate.

In Italy so far almost 79% of the available doses have been administered in 2,105 vaccination points, according to the data on the government website: among the most 'virtuous' territories are the Veneto, the autonomous province of Bolzano, the Valle d'Aosta over 85%;

among the worst Apulia and Sardinia just over 72% and Calabria still below this threshold.
