Munich - Netto has a surprise for its customers after Easter.

In the near future, the discounter with the dog wants to expand its range with a cooperation with the “Too Good To Go” app.

So far, this offer was only available in a few Netto branches.

Soon all Netto markets should be able to benefit from the cooperation.

Netto: Cooperation with “Too Good To Go” is a step towards sustainability

"Too Good To Go" is a smartphone app that aims to save food from the rubbish bin.

The app acts as an intermediary between restaurants and supermarkets.

Meals or groceries that cannot be sold by the end of business are offered on “Too Good To Go” at greatly reduced prices.

This allows retailers to sell food that would otherwise have ended up in the bin.

Consumers, on the other hand, benefit from the low prices.

With the cooperation with Netto, customers can pick up small packaged bags for 3.90 euros from a branch.

Groceries from all departments of the discounter should be offered in the bag.

Dairy products, sausage or fruit and vegetables can also be found in Netto bags.

However, the offers are only valid for the Netto markets with dogs.

The Netto discounters belonging to the Edeka Group do not offer any cooperation with the app.

Around 20 bags of groceries should be available every evening.

Netto: Countless tons of food are wasted in Germany

“There is no need to waste food.

Much that we can no longer sell or can no longer sell at the regular price can be eaten without any problems, ”Ingo Pankin, CEO of Netto Germany told the

food newspaper

.

"We are very pleased that we can make an important contribution to avoiding food waste by cooperating with 'Too Good To Go'." According to the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, 12 million tons of food are thrown away in Germany every year.

Netto: Cooperation will start soon

As early as May 3rd, customers can benefit from the offer in all Netto branches.

Consumers can then reserve their bags with the "Too Good To Go" app.

But Netto is not the only retailer that has a cooperation with the app.

Real also already supports the app offering nationwide.

Kaufland, on the other hand, has started a test phase.

In addition, many restaurants, cafés and bakeries use the application.
