Faces swollen and full of bruises.
Photos of Dominique and Bernard Tapie were released after the assault on the couple at their property in Combs-la-Ville, on the night from Saturday to Sunday.
Four burglars broke into their home and physically attacked the ex-businessman, 78, who has been battling cancer for several years, and his wife Dominique.
They hit them in the face and then tied them up with electric cables.
The businessman in particular received "a blow with a baton on the head".
Dominique Tapie "received several blows but she is fine," the grandson of the former deputy and ex-Minister of the City, Rodolphe Tapie, told AFP.
"My grandfather refused to be taken, he stayed at home, he is knocked out, very tired," he added.
It was Dominique Tapie who was able to give the alert.
She managed to get rid of her ties to go to a neighbor's house, from where she called the police.
Slightly injured, Ms. Tapie went to the hospital for consultation.
An investigation was opened for "kidnapping", "organized robbery" and "criminal association".
