In 2016, the comedy film "Yishmaach Hatani" was released, centered on a struggle waged by the women of the Bukharan neighborhood of Jerusalem against a young rabbi who preaches more modesty and creates conflict between men and women in the community.

The film, starring Evelyn the Redeemer, Yigal Naor, Orna Banai, Einat Shroff, Aviv Alush and Itzik Cohen, was a surprising commercial success at the box office, paving the way for the creation of a series based on the film.

Tonight, the series will air on Keshet 12.

Many of the film's actors also play in the series, including Orna Banai, Einat Shroff, Evelyn the Redeemer, and Itzik Cohen, and they are joined by Tzachi Halevi, Or Ben Melech and Maayan Blum.

The series, like the film, takes place in the Bukharan neighborhood of Jerusalem and its protagonists are a moderate religious community who pray in a small synagogue that is the heart of their social life.

The series is directed by Ariel Benveji.

"The series is actually a sequel to the film," says Itzik Cohen (52).

"The characters get a new plot, later in time and recount everything that happens with this community in Jerusalem. I play the same character I played in the film, Aharon the Gabay who is married to Tikva (Orna Banai - MK).

The feeling in the photos was very familial.

From the moment we arrived there was a sense of togetherness, laughter.

It was like that already in the filming of the movie, and going back to that in the filming of the series was the most natural thing in the world.

We immediately returned to this formation and joy.

It was a lot of fun, funny, exciting.

I think this is one of the most enjoyable experiences of my career. "

You're also back on stage now after a hard year.

I am very excited that the theater has opened.

After so many years of being on stage almost every night, suddenly there was such a break.

I already really want to meet the audience.

I always look at the audience at first, peeking from the side to see the reactions during the show.

I think the theater is a very important device for opening hearts and bringing hearts together, especially after a year of isolation.

"When the theater closed, exactly a year ago, I realized that a re-arrangement had to be made. Fortunately, I did a lot of things between the closures. I was photographed for the 'Singer in a Mask' program and three series coming out soon (a series about Etty Alon in yes, the 'Jerusalem Beauty Queen' series. "Yes and the second season of the 'IPS' series here (11 MK). I was also photographed for the Festigal and a film produced by Spielberg called 'Oslo'."

Cohen returns to the stage with two productions: the musical "Until the End of the Rainbow" about Judy Garland, which will be staged at the Cameri Theater on April 23 (starring Mia Dagan), and the mythological musical "Saleh Shabtai" which will be staged at the National Theater for Adults) .

"'To the End of the Rainbow' 'is a play with songs that deals with the last period in Judy Garland's life," says Cohen.

"Garland was a huge star who started as a child. She hit the world of fame at a young age and started using drugs and alcohol to maintain this machine called Stars. It's an exciting and funny play. Mia Dagan is amazing there, it's a kind of life role. I play the pianist who accompanies her for many years "And we will meet her ahead of her tour in London. In the background, all sorts of things are happening with her young lover."

"Salah Shabti" has already been played once.

"True, I played him 13 years ago at the Cameri Theater. I will finally meet my French side again as a director. I love him very much, he also directed me in 'Casablanca'. In 'The Singer in a Mask' we almost met (laughs). Saleh's role is iconic "In my opinion. It will get a different outfit with a different cast. It's a musical for everything."

What about the new season of "Fauda"?

"She will be photographed around September."
