After the Passover holiday that left most of the people of Israel in search of hotels and sites in the country, with the opening of more and more destinations in the world, the upcoming summer holiday may already look completely different.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced this week that people vaccinated against COVID-19 can safely return to their vacations, family visits and business trips. But is this the case outside the country and around the world?

According to the CDC, fully vaccinated people can travel without tests or quarantine periods after travel, as long as they continue to take precautions such as wearing masks and avoiding crowds if possible.
Still, they made it clear that travel can still pose a risk even to fully vaccinated people.
"While we believe vaccinated people can travel at low risk, the CDC does not recommend traveling unnecessarily at this time, due to the rising number of cases in the country," Principal Rochelle Wolensky said during a press briefing she conducted.

What caused the change?
Recent studies have provided compelling evidence that corona vaccines are not only effective in preventing disease but also in preventing infection.
An Israeli study by the Technion and the Maccabi HMO, for example, found that two doses of Modern or Pfizer corona vaccines provide 90 percent protection against COVID-19 infection.
But while the studies are encouraging, the reality is much more complex.
"Everyone wants to be flexible at the moment, but the reality is that no one knows what is expected to happen in the future," says Professor Tomer Hertz, a virologist from the Faculty of Health Sciences and a member of the National Biotechnology Institute at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. .

"I don't see planes becoming a safe place anytime soon."
According to Prof. Hertz, it is clear that the vaccine makes infection easier, but along with the optimism, we must be very careful and take into account that we still have surprises and there is a chance that variants of the virus will change the whole picture, even for the vaccinated.
"We are only now beginning to return to routine, and this return depends on how many infections there are. We must not forget that children are not vaccinated and this will not change any time soon. Therefore, family vacations with children are not recommended," explains Prof. Hertz. "Israel is in an optimistic and happy state. "A world-class wall, but the virus has its own path and is not at all what we expect. There are places that are rampant and places that are not, and we do not know what the reason is."
As an example he gives Denmark and Sweden, two neighboring countries, with the first corona declining while the second having about 6,000 new patients daily.
"It is important to remember that no one knows if a variant will emerge that will require them to be vaccinated with a new vaccine. In any case, in order to fly to other countries, they need to be safe. We must take into account that we in Israel are not in the whole world."
