The American "Variety" magazine reports that the award-winning actress Helen Mirren will participate in "Golda", the expected film by Israeli Oscar winner Guy Nativ ("Skin").

The British actress will play the character of Golda Meir, in a film that will focus on the life of the Israeli prime minister.

The film will be directed by the Israeli director and will be produced by Michael Kahn.

The screenplay for the film, written by Nicholas Martin ("Florence Foster Jenkins"), will focus on the fateful pressures and decisions Meir faced during the Yom Kippur War.

"As someone who was born during the Yom Kippur War, it is an honor for me to tell this fascinating story, about the first and only woman ever to lead Israel," said Nativ.

'Nicholas Martin's brilliant screenplay plunges into the final chapter of Golda's life.

A time when the state faced a deadly and sudden threat during the holiest day of the year, a battery of generals underestimated Golda's discretion, in parallel with the treatments Meir was undergoing and which were kept secret.

I'm all excited about working with the legendary Helen Mirren, and by bringing this epic, emotional and complex story to life. '

Miran, 75, is one of the oldest and most respected actresses in Hollywood.

She won an Oscar for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth in The Queen, and also won several Emmy Awards for her television roles.

Guy Nativ won an Oscar for his short film "Skin", which later became a full-length film.
