(ANSA) - ROME, APRIL 06 - The University of Oxford has announced that it has suspended testing the AstraZeneca vaccine on children pending an analysis on the possible links between the drug and thrombosis episodes among adults.
Skynews reports.
Professor Andrew Pollard explained that Oxford University researchers have decided to suspend the tests pending more information.
The trials started in February and involved children and girls between 6 and 17 years old.
About 300 volunteers had come forward.
"Although there are no safety concerns in the pediatric trial, we await further information from the MHRA on the rare cases of thrombosis and thrombocytopenia that have been reported in adults, before administering other vaccines," explained the professor. Pollard.
