(ANSAmed) - SARAJEVO, APRIL 06 - About two thousand people and hundreds of cars demonstrated today in the center of Sarajevo, with the slogan "Fight for life", demanding the resignations of the top Bosnian leaders who to date have done nothing to complain about provide the population with anti covid-19 vaccines.

After stopping in front of the Parliament, the march of demonstrators stopped in front of the seat of the government of the Federation (Fbh, a majority Croatian Muslim entity in Bosnia), which did not change after the 2018 elections due to the lack of agreements between political forces.

They were scanditislogan with the request for the resignation of both the entire central government and the current executive of the Fbh, and in particular of Prime Minister Fadil Novalic.

The latter is currently under trial for having participated in the purchase of 100 respirators from China which were found to be malfunctioning and which would have caused the death of several patients.

The lack of vaccines and the respiratory scandal have provoked strong popular discontent, especially after the publication of a document in which a group of intensive care doctors warns against the respirators in question, used in the Sarajevo Clinical Center.

Sebija Izetbegovic, director of the Clinical Center and wife of the leader of the SDA (the largest Muslim party), says, however, that the respirators are working properly.

In recent days in Bosnia-Herzegovina, like the other Western Balkan countries, the first vaccine supplies have arrived within the Covax international program, for a total of approximately 50 thousand AstraZeneca and Pfizer-BioNTech doses.

LaBosnia-Herzegovina has around 3.5 million inhabitants.

Thousands of Bosnian, Macedonian, Montenegrin, Albanian and Kosovar citizens were able to get vaccinated in Belgrade over the last weekend of March, thanks to vaccine supplies made available to neighboring countries from Serbia.
