Two escaped llamas kept the police in suspense in Baden-Württemberg.
The animals presumably pressed down the fence themselves at Leonberg on Tuesday afternoon and moved in the direction of a motorway, the officials in Ludwigsburg said.
First attempts to capture the llamas in the fields in between were unsuccessful, according to the police.
With every attempted approach, the animals jumped "like wildly" in different directions.
So that they could not run onto the nearby motorway, 18 police officers finally chased the llamas back towards their enclosure.
Finally it was possible to arrest the two escapes.
With the help of the owners and eleven animal rescue workers, the police led the llamas back into the enclosure after around two and a half hours.
