The hope of many music fans was great.

All the more sobering the news that many festivals will also be canceled in 2021.

This cancellation affected this year's editions of Rock am Ring, Rock im Park, Hurricane Festival, Southside, Deichbrand, SonneMondSterne and Greenfield.

And yet, despite the still tense situation within Europe, there are major festivals in Germany that are supposed to take place as planned.

SPIEGEL gives an overview.

fusion

June 24th to 27th and July 1st to 4th

The Fusion is one of the largest alternative music and theater festivals in Europe.

The event in Lärz on the Mecklenburg Lake District is to take place on two weekends in a row this year, each with 35,000 visitors.

To this end, the organizing association Kulturkosmos wants to set up test sites with PCR tests in several places, including in Berlin, Hamburg and Lärz.

"If mass tourism is possible again at the festival time in 2021, then we can and will celebrate the merger with our trend-setting test and hygiene concept," the association announced on its website in March.

One reckons with about 180,000 necessary tests and at the same time hopes for progress in vaccination.

However, it is still open whether the festival hygiene concept will actually be approved.

Such a festival would not be approved under the current conditions.

It should start on July 7th, with star DJ David Guetta among others.

MS Dockville

The fact that the Dockville weekend is quite late in the summer gives us residual hope that we can hold the festival regularly.
