While waiting for the announcement of new restrictions due to the
second wave
of the pandemic, this Wednesday the Government confirmed
22,039 new cases of
coronavirus.
Thus, for the second day in a row, a
new record
for infections was set at the national level.
There were another
199 deaths
.
It arises from the daily part published this afternoon by the Ministry of Health, based on data uploaded by the provinces in the last 24 hours.
After exceeding 2.4 million infections and 56 thousand deaths, Argentina remains among the
15 countries with the highest number of infections and deaths
accumulated since the beginning of the global health crisis.
According to the Worldometers site, it is the
13th
most affected nation in both variables.
In Argentina, more than 9 million coronavirus tests were carried out since the start of the pandemic.

The rise in cases - which generated provincial and national records in recent days - raises concern among sanitarians, who already recognize the
beginning of the second wave
of the pandemic in the country.
This morning the Minister of Health of the City, Fernán Quirós, warned that the next "three or four weeks" will be critical, in line with what his Nation counterpart, Carla Vizzotti, said on Tuesday.

"They are the most critical moment of this second wave because, among various reasons, the vaccination campaign is advancing more rapidly and we have to arrive at the beginning of May with the vaccinated risk groups," said Quirós.
The minister also made a critical analysis from the health point of view of Argentina's vaccination campaign, as it was "
slower and more delayed
than we intended and expected."
"If we were with the majority of risk groups vaccinated, the scenario would be different," he lamented.
According to data from the Public Vaccination Monitor, until this Wednesday a dose was applied to almost
3.9 million people
, while some 700 thousand received the two injections that complete the immunization schedule.
This difference responds to the current recommendation of the Ministry of Health, which aims to give the vaccine to a larger population and defer the second.

The measures to contain the advance of the outbreak generated differences between Nation and City, while in most of the new infections they have been registered in the AMBA, as happened at the beginning of the first wave (although in a smaller proportion compared to the national total ).
The main measures aim to reinstate a "night curfew" to restrict circulation and limit social gatherings, which today are seen as the main source of contagion.
