The supermarket chain Edeka has to initiate a new recall.

A food from the freezer shelf is affected.

There is a risk of metallic foreign bodies.

Hamburg - Edeka publishes a recall with high urgency.

These are frozen fruits of the own brand "GUT & GÜNSTIG" with the product name: "Fine berry mix with sour cherries, frozen".

The current case of Edeka-Zentrale Nord in Hamburg is not about contamination in the form of bacteria, the dangers of the recall are instead of a different nature: There is a risk that there are “sharp metallic objects” in the refrigerated goods, warns the supermarket chain.

The critical food was not only in the Edeka range, but also in various Marktkauf branches, which also belong to the Edeka Group.

There are three federal states that are significantly affected by the recall: North Rhine-Westphalia and the neighboring regions of Lower Saxony and Rhineland-Palatinate.

However, only predominantly and not exclusively, explains Edeka.

With our brand new consumer newsletter you will always stay up to date on consumer information and product recalls.

Edeka and Marktkauf with recall for frozen food - the following best before dates are affected

From the recall of the "Fine berry mix with sour cherries, frozen" are batches with five different best before dates: October 19, 2022, October 30, 2022, November 19, 2022, December 3, 2022 and January 7, 2023.

"Other best-before dates for this item and other frozen berry mixes are not affected," assures Edeka in a message.

When consuming the frozen food concerned, there is a risk of injury to the internal organs in the gastrointestinal tract and even the risk of suffocation from stab wounds.

People who have bought the product in question from Edeka can exchange the goods for a refund of the purchase price - with or without receipt - in the respective branches and receive money back.

Edeka customer service answers inquiries from consumers on the free telephone number 08 00/3 33 52 11 (reachable daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.) - alternatively also by email: info@edeka.de.

Days later, an Edeka customer makes a strange discovery over a baked roll.

Again a product of the own brand "Gut & Favorable" is affected.
