Mediapro France is the French production arm of the Sino-Spanish group Mediapro, creator of the Téléfoot channel, which ceased broadcasting in February after barely six months of existence.

The 90 or so employees of this company created in 2012, which notably operated for beIN Sports (another bouquet) until last summer, found themselves on the sidelines for lack of new contracts.

A social plan deemed unworthy

But while Jaume Joures, the boss of Mediapro, had promised in December not to let them "

down

", these technicians are offered a PSE (job protection plan) "

unworthy, with the legal minimum that does not is not at all up to the group and the reality of the market

”, explained to AFP Florent Glardon, elected CSE present at the rally.

the century

" ... Holding up signs adorned with portraits of Jaume Roures and Jérémie Roudaire, Managing Director of Mediapro France, the employees responded to the call of the CGT to demand "

" At the direction.

The redundancy plan concerns “

all jobs

” at Mediapro France, “

with the exception of the general manager, ie 85 permanent contracts and 5 fixed-term contracts

”, according to a union press release.

It does not concern the fifty or so Téléfoot journalists, grouped together within another structure, Mediapro Sport France.

Difficulties for the group to honor its commitments

Téléfoot was set up by Mediapro to broadcast Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 matches for which it had acquired the rights at a gold price in 2018. But the group was unable to meet its deadlines in the fall, arguing for the health crisis, and negotiated its withdrawal from the market in December.

Mediapro France still had to ensure the capture of handball matches in recent days.

But faced with the risk of a strike, this task has been entrusted to other service providers, including Portuguese and Spanish subsidiaries of Mediapro, according to one of its employees, Jean-François Ballanger.

Contacted, the management of Mediapro France did not respond.
