When Dr. Tamara Kolitz, an internal medicine doctor, began making home visits to Holocaust survivors about two years ago, she did not know that this activity, which she does on a full-time basis, would now fully fulfill her schedule as the founder and chairman of the "For Us" Association. Holocaust survivors.

About a year ago, with the outbreak of the corona plague, Kolitz raised the main points of the idea in the online doctors' forum and quickly received an impressive response.

"I realized that there was a very great need here for the survivors for such a medical service and when I saw the desire of doctors to hire them for this I was very positively surprised," Kolitz said.

Today, a year later, the association has more than 600 medical staff, including senior faculty members.

Kolitz says that "I turned to Moti Sonnenfeld (founder of the Danieli Foundation named after his daughter who was killed in a car accident, engaged in the field of humanity in medicine) and his foundation has helped me from the early days of formulating the idea."

On the occasion of Holocaust Martyrs 'and Heroes' Remembrance Day, Dr. Kolitz emphasizes that "the most important goal is for the survivors to know that we exist here, for them and for them." About five months ago, a call center was opened at the association for Holocaust survivors in need of medical care (Star 3191). The association intends to expand the range of its services and for this purpose it needs financial assistance and donations.

For example, the association is currently working to establish a unique mobile clinic that will reach the homes of the survivors and provide medical services to those who cannot leave their homes.

An example of the association's activities can be seen in the activities of Dr. Libby Kochavi, an expert in dermatology who works for Laanam, who yesterday visited Rebbetzin Esther Rivka Zacks, a Holocaust survivor born in Lithuania, a member of a glorious rabbinical family that led the Slobodka community. "My grandmother and grandfather survived the Holocaust. My grandfather fulfilled his dream of becoming a doctor in Israel and I am excited about the possibility of continuing his vision to contribute even slightly to improving the lives of Holocaust survivors."

To be joined by doctors and volunteers and donations
