Employees in the Bavarian retail trade are exempt from the FFP2 mask requirement.
Instead, surgical masks and partitions are sufficient, according to the Bavarian Ministry of Health.
Munich - On January 13th, Markus Söder announced the FFP2 mask requirement in Bavaria.
This corona regulation still exists today - but not for employees in retail.
So there is no need to worry if the cashiers wear a surgical mask inside.
Because: Instead of a simple mouth and nose covering, a certified mask is mandatory for salespeople, but an FFP2 mask is not mandatory.
Originally, the FFP2 mask requirement was also intended for retail employees.
The Bavarian Trade Association (HBE) protested against this regulation.

According to the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV), an FFP2 mask should not be worn for longer than two hours.
In addition, a recovery phase of 30 minutes is required afterwards.
This poses a problem for retail workers. For an eight-hour shift, this would mean three breaks.
"In practice this is simply not possible," said Bernd Ohlmann, the press spokesman for the HBE, to

Bavaria is also the only federal state that has introduced an FFP2 mask requirement in public transport and retail.
In all others, only the obligation to wear a medical mask applies.
"A plexiglass pane in front of the cash register prevents the aerosols from spreading, so an additional mask is not required here."

According to the Bavarian Ministry of Health, there is no mask requirement for retail employees in checkout and counter areas if reliable protection against infection can be guaranteed through transparent or other suitable protective walls.
For retail customers, however, the FFP2 mask requirement remains in place in Bavaria.
