The Israeli-Palestinian Memorial Day ceremony provokes much controversy every year, but the tradition continues.
As every year, representatives of Israeli bereaved families as well as representatives of Palestinian bereaved families will participate and speak.
Compared to years past, the ceremony will take place online.
Among the speakers at this year's ceremony will be the award-winning Hollywood actor Richard Gere.
The ceremony will also be addressed by Palestinian-American psychologist and political activist Mubarak Awad, who promotes the idea of nonviolent opposition to the Israeli presence in the territories.
The ceremony, which will take place in parallel with the state ceremony on Memorial Day for IDF casualties on Mount Herzl, will be moderated by Yossi Tsabari and Raida Adon, and will feature artists David Broza, Amal Murkus and Miriam Toucan.
In recent years, the issue of the joint ceremony has not made headlines in the days of remembrance, due to strong opposition to the event from the Israeli side, an opposition that was expressed in demonstrations next to the ceremony that escalated into cases of violence. It was recently reported that a billboard company had refrained from advertising the ceremony, due to it being controversial.
