(ANSA) - CAPE TOWN, APRIL 08 - A particularly aggressive and intelligent wild baboon who terrorized residents and tourists, robbing them of food, in the Cape Peninsula, South Africa, was put to death with an injection after he started operating with a whole gang of his like.
Cape Town municipal authorities have ensured that the captured baboon alpha-male was euthanized without suffering, in the hope that the well-organized gang he assembled would also stop the violent raids.
The 'gangster' baboon began by doing like a lot of his fellows, preying on garbage bins, but increasingly entering the gardens and homes of residents, terrorizing them.
All the anti-baboon tricks did not stop the other aggressive monkey, which meanwhile has gathered a well-organized gang of baboons who have been estranged from a community living in the natural habitat of the Cape area.
