Italians disappeared in Mexico, 50 years in prison for the two agents involved

    The Court of the Mexican state of Jalisco (sixth judicial district) inflicted 50 years in prison on Salomon Adrian Ramos Silva and Emilio Martines Garcia, the two policemen found guilty of the "forced disappearance" of Antonio Russo and Vincenzo Cimmino, two of the three Italians who disappeared in Mexico on January 31, 2018.

    For the judges they are fully guilty of the crime contested in competition with other public officials including the commander of the local police and his deputy.

The two policemen were also banned from public office.

The decision comes one week after the conviction of guilt pronounced on 3 April.

    No news of Linda Guadalupe Arroyo, the accused policewoman who fled during the last hearing, on the occasion of a break.

Investigators Sonia Alvarez Cisneros, Jaime Navarro Hernandez, Jorge Vejar Villa and Manuel Alejandro Gutierrez Banuelos of Fiscalia, the Mexican investigating magistracy, asked the judge to sentence the two officers to 60 years in prison, to a compensation of one million pounds and the interdiction of public offices.

The defense of the accused, on the other hand, asked for lighter sentences for the agents who, it was pointed out, did nothing but carry out higher orders.

    The prosecutors underlined, during the indictment, that the request for the maximum sentence is motivated by the fact that the agents were fully aware of the crime they were committing.

    For the Fiscalia, moreover, Antonio and Vincenzo, as well as Raffaele Russo (defended by the lawyer Claudio Falleti), whose traces were lost several hours before his son and grandson, are still classified as "desaparecidos" and for this reason searches will continue.

After the indictment, Francesco Russo took the floor (in video link from Naples, together with the lawyer Luigi Ferrandino), who asked the investigators to ask the condemned agents one last time to tell, if they knew, where Raffaele are. and Antonio Russo and Vincenzo Cimmino.
