(ANSA) - NEW YORK, APRIL 09 - DMX didn't make it. The rapper died at the age of 50 after being hospitalized last April 2 in New York from a heart attack caused by an overdose.
DMX, whose real name was Earl Simmons, had been in a vegetative state since his admission. He had been suffering from drug addiction for years and was forced to cancel his concerts several times and go to detox centers.
Dmx, which stands for Dark Man X, was particularly famous in the late 1990s for its gothic rhymes underlined by the deep vocal timbre and is now considered one of the most influential rap artists ever. (HANDLE).
