The Public Defender's Office —an organism created by the Audiovisual Communication Services Law, to channel complaints from the radio and TV public— accused Viviana Canosa of promoting "

social panic, alarm and misinformation

among audiences."

It was because of information that the driver spread about swabs to detect adulterated coronaviruses.

The organization, headed by Miriam Lewin, informed América TV about complaints received from messages broadcast on the program "Viviana con Vos", broadcast by the A24 signal on April 6, and asked the company to evaluate possible

reparation measures

" to promote socially relevant information in the framework of the covid-19 pandemic, "according to the defense counsel in a statement.

According to that letter, Canosa referred on that date to an alleged

procedure of adulteration of the swabs

"about which he cannot specify what it consists of or where it occurs", so that information, in the view of the defense counsel, can become in a dangerous public health message.

"Yesterday they told me, and I'm going to say it, 'doctors for the truth', from Spain, that there is a very serious complaint because in certain places the swabs have some metals, some

strange things

, I don't know how to explain it easily, that's good. They put that and it will give you positive because it is not really you, it is what they put on the swab, what for?

To get into your house

", the statement cites the driver's sayings.

In light of the complaints received, the Ombudsman commissioned

a "socio-semiotic"

analysis from its Directorate of Analysis, Research and Monitoring, which concluded: "The host of the program mediates a speech that promotes social panic, alarm and misinformation among audiences about the system of tests or swabs that are implemented to detect and diagnose Covid-19 ".

For the defender, "this set of inaccuracies generates social alarm and

promotes distrust

among audiences about the virus detection methods."

The body headed by Lewin will report the claim to the National Communications Agency (Enacom) and to the Ministry of Health of the Nation.

And

he proposed to América TV an instance of meeting

“to deepen the questions raised and evaluate the possibility of carrying out a symbolic repair in order to provide concrete and verified information that can guide the population, in a context of pandemic, it requires communication greater social responsibility ".
