Covid-19 in France: 210 new deaths, 5,769 patients in critical care

2021-04-10T17:34:37.992Z

Hospital pressure remains very high in the country, with 30,238 coronavirus positive patients hospitalized.

France began this Saturday two weeks of confined school holidays, without travel between regions, in the hope of curbing the Covid-19 epidemic.

While vaccination, still chaotic, accelerates, the number of patients hospitalized in critical care remains in the red.

The health authorities count 5,769, against 5,757 on Friday.

Some 388 patients were admitted in 24 hours to these services reserved for the most serious cases (resuscitation, intensive care, continuous monitoring).

This closely watched indicator is thus still approaching the peak of the first wave (a little over 7,000 patients at the start of April 2020).

The peak of the second wave (just over 4,900 patients in mid-November) had been exceeded at the end of March.

More than 98,600 dead from Covid in France

The pressure on hospital services in general is still very high with now 30,238 Covid patients treated in hospital, against 30,326 on Friday, a figure that has fallen slightly since Wednesday.

Of this total, 1,649 people have been admitted to a hospital since the day before.
