The corona vaccinations have started.
Many are now wondering when it is their turn.
A web tool helps to calculate the personal vaccination appointment.
In
Germany
, more than a million people have received a
Corona
*
vaccination
since the end of December
.
For many people it is unclear when they
can expect
a
vaccination appointment
.
Two
university graduates
have developed a
tool
that is supposed to calculate the date.
Kassel - Over 1.2 million vaccine doses (as of January 20, 2021) have already been administered against the
coronavirus
across Germany
.
However, millions of Germans are wondering when they
can expect
a
vaccination appointment
.
Two graduates now shed light on the darkness with a useful program.
Together with Philip Maus, a graduate of the University of Pisa, the graduate of the Technical University of Vienna, Bogna Szyk, has developed an
intuitive tool
that calculates the expected vaccination date * and assesses the respective position in the queue.
The so-called
Omni Calculator
was developed for
Germany
and has been available online since mid-January (January 13th, 2021).
Calculate corona vaccination appointment: how does the calculator work?
The
computer
was created on the basis of the statutory ordinance of the German Federal Ministry of Health and works on the basis of personal information.
But how does the appointment calculator for the corona vaccination * work?
The developer Bogna Szyk explains to hna.de that each person is assigned different
priority
levels.
In order to be able to determine this, however, important questions must first be answered, for example about age and occupation as well as previous illnesses.
On the basis of the respective answers, the
program
finally
calculates
which group the user belongs to and when an appointment for the
corona vaccination
in
Germany
can be expected.
“Based on the group size estimated by the Robert Koch Institute, we know how many people are in the queue in front of you,” explains Szyk.
The division of this number finally gives the estimated waiting time.

Corona vaccination appointment: what is the calculator based on?
When developing the
Omni-Calculator project
, the two graduates used
a similar tool for Great Britain as their
orientation
.
Since the
corona pandemic is
currently shutting down the whole world and it takes some time until most people in
Germany are
finally
vaccinated
against the
virus
, Bogna Szyk came up with the idea of the
vaccination calculator
.
"I wanted to show all Germans a realistic vaccination schedule and give hope that it is possible to fight Corona, although it will still take a few months," said the young graduate.
After that, everything went pretty quickly: She only
started
developing the tool
just before Christmas
.
She then got additional support from her colleague Philip Maus, who helped her ensure that the calculator was kept up to date and that the results were as accurate as possible.
Corona vaccination appointment: is the calculator reliable?
But how reliable is the result of the vaccination calculator?
Bogna Szyk emphasizes that the
calculator is
not a perfect estimate but is nevertheless reliable.
All information was taken from official documents, for example from the statutory ordinance, or from formal statements by the federal government.
The current vaccination rates per week are constantly adjusted over time in order
to achieve the
most
accurate result
possible.
In addition, the
tool is
constantly updated
every working day with the number of
corona vaccinations
carried out
in
Germany
according to the RKI
.

In addition to the
corona vaccination date calculator
, users are also provided with further information on the website, for example general
questions about the vaccination
,
explanations of the priority groups
and
instructions on how to use the calculator
.
