The Mendoza Justice is investigating whether the death of

María del Valle González

López (23), which occurred on Sunday in a public hospital, was a case of malpractice due to a legal abortion.

The young woman was the president of the Radical Youth of the municipality of La Paz and her death caused a stir in the provincial and national UCR.

On social networks there were messages of condolences from the main leaders of the party that governs Mendoza and his friends from the militancy.

According to official information, María del Valle had attended the Arturo Illia hospital, the only one in her town, on Wednesday, April 7, to request a legal interruption procedure.

There he was prescribed a medication - presumably misoprostol - and on Friday he began to feel bad.

She was referred to the main health center in the East Zone of Mendoza, the Perrupato hospital, where they detected

a general infection that would have caused her death.

As soon as the details of his death were known, the pro-life groups that oppose legal abortion began to speak on the networks with the hashtags # MurióPorAbortoLegal and #AbortoLegalMataIgual to point out the risks associated with this practice.

The advance of the investigation

The prosecutor Mariano Carbajal requested the kidnapping of the young woman's medical history and the performance of a necropsy to find out the details of her death.

The Santa Rosa Prosecutor's Office began the investigation, but due to its complexity, it will go to the San Martín Prosecutor's Office on Monday.

Details of the necropia will be known in the next few hours.

"At first they did not want to give us the patient's medical history but after much insistence, they agreed," a judicial source told the Mendoza Post newspaper.

"It is necessary to see if that pill does not have any contraindication or if the girl had some other underlying disease that is incompatible with that medication," he added.

"She had grown up in the country and was studying. Last year she was elected president of the Radical Youth of La Paz. She was also the district queen for Desaguadero," explained the former mayor of La Paz, Sergio Pinto.

As he explained, the young woman "

was just beginning in the world of politics

" and had not held any public office.

González was dating and studying a degree in Social Work at the National University of Cuyo (UNCuyo).
