Members of Parliament returned earlier from their Easter break on Monday to pay tribute to Prince Philip, who died last Friday at the age of 99.

Meanwhile, preparations for the funeral service, which will take place next Saturday in St. George's Chapel, are beginning in Windsor Castle - due to the corona restrictions in the smallest family group with only 30 participants.

The palace confirms that Prince Harry, who has already traveled from the USA, will be there.

Many British hope that the grandfather's funeral will be an opportunity to resolve the family dispute between the brothers Prince Harry and Prince William;

the two are said to have hardly spoken to each other for two years.

The focus of the dispute is currently the allegations of Harry and Meghan in their television interview with Oprah Winfrey about lack of consideration and racist remarks within the royal family.

John Major, Former Prime Minister

“This friction that has been reported should end as soon as possible.

You both are united in the feeling of grief for your grandfather.

I think now is the ideal chance - and I hope it will be possible to heal the break. "

It's a topic that has sparked debate among mourners in Windsor in recent days.

“Harry has to be there anyway.

Meghan, well, she has her own problems with the monarchy.

But Harry should be there for his grandfather. ”

“ I think Meghan should be there too, to support him and stand for a little togetherness.

I understand, in part, that she's not coming back, but I think it's a mistake. "

The pregnant Meghan had been advised against the trip by her doctor - the palace announced.

Prince Philip's great-grandchildren will not be at the funeral either.

According to the royal family, the children of Prince William and Duchess Kate are too young to attend the televised funeral.

The British are particularly worried about how the Queen coped with the death of her husband, who stood by her side for 73 years.

Prince Andrew, son of Queen Elizabeth II.

“The Queen is a very stoic person.

She described his death as a kind of miracle.

She's very thoughtful right now, that's how I would put it.

She described it as a huge void in her life.

But we, the family, the close relatives, take care of them and support them. "

State mourning officially applies in Great Britain until the funeral service next Saturday.

The service is to begin at 4 p.m. on Saturday afternoon with a nationwide minute's silence.
