The number of cases of Covid-19 contagion recorded in
Germany
since the beginning of the pandemic
has exceeded 3 million
, according to data from the German Institute Robert Koch (Rki) and the American University Johns Hopkins (Jhu).
In the last 24 hours, the infections were 13,245, says the Rki, with the national incidence rate that in the last 7 days stood at 136.4 per 100,000 people.
The European country of over 83 million inhabitants has reported nearly 78,500 deaths from coronavirus so far, while 2.68 million people have recovered from the infection in Germany according to Jhu.
The vaccination campaign against Covid-19 for citizens over 65 years of age starts

, almost 28% of the population, a figure equivalent to about 36 million people.
The Tokyo government aims to secure a sufficient number of doses from Pfizer, to date the only vaccine to have received approval from the Japanese Ministry of Health, and to complete the inoculation plan by the end of June.
Japan began immunizing medical personnel in mid-February, which is lagging behind other countries, and has so far vaccinated less than 1% of the 126 million population.
