Pixel 5a: The Google smartphone will indeed be released, but not in France

2021-04-12T13:56:11.433Z

Although rumors of cancellation have been refuted by Google, France will not be affected by the release of the Pixel 5a, scheduled for this.

In a tweet posted on April 9, the leaker answering the pseudonym Jon Prosser, claimed that Google's Pixel 5a had been canceled, due to a shortage of chips.

The information has since been denied by a spokesperson for the American company, who confirmed that

the smartphone would be available by the end of the year, but only in Japan and the United States.

The Pixel 5a will therefore not be marketed in France

, where it is however possible to buy the previous models like the Google Pixel 5. This choice is explained by supply concerns, but also by the shortage of components which currently affects many high-tech firms.

Google has thus decided to favor a launch limited to two countries, at least for 2021.

Google: What do we know about the new Pixel 5a smartphone?

Like its predecessor, the Pixel 5a is likely to get a presentation in August, followed by a quick on-sale.

Its design should be almost similar to that of the Pixel 5, although some rumors point to a thicker and taller smartphone.

It will also be 5G compatible, and should be equipped with a 6.2-inch screen, or 15.2 cm.

The only difference, on the front, a new location for the selfie camera which would now be located in the upper left corner of the screen.

On the back, the Pixel 5a is said to have dual photo sensors, like previous generations.

Many features of its configuration are still unknown, including the amount of RAM or storage space.

However, the processor should perform better than that of previous models.
