Prince William honored his grandfather, Prince Philip, who died on Friday, as an "extraordinary person" and assured the Queen of his support.
"I'll miss my grandfather," the Duke of Cambridge, 38, wrote in a statement posted on Twitter.
"But I know he would want us to get on with the job."
He and his wife, Duchess Kate, would continue to support Queen Elizabeth II for years to come.
He was grateful to have had the Duke of Edinburgh, who died at the age of 99, by his side into adulthood, wrote William, "in good and bad days."
Prince Philip was part of an "extraordinary generation".
"My grandfather's life of the century was marked by service - to his land and the Commonwealth, to his wife and the Queen, and to our family."
He will never take for granted the experiences his children should have had with their great-grandfather.
In addition to the statement, Kate and William posted a photo of their son George, 7, with Prince Philip on a carriage.
