In the framework of the fight against Covid 19 and the acquisition of vaccines, the private parties began consultations with different laboratories to obtain doses.
The infectologist Daniel Stamboulian, medical director of Stamboulian Health Services, told
Clarín
that he has already been making inquiries with
Pfizer and Moderna
to buy vaccines and distribute them throughout the country.
So far, he has spoken with referents from both laboratories.
“From Pfizer they told me that
there will be no stock until the beginning of July
.
They did not give a date for Moderna, but we are in contact, "says Stamboulian.
And he adds: "The idea is to
acquire 700 thousand
."
Meanwhile, Claudio Belocopitt, president of Swiss Medical and the Argentine Health Union (UAS) that groups together part of the private sector, maintains that he
also intends
to buy vaccines.
“When the possibility exists, of course.
So far, we have not had positive results with the steps we started, ”he says.
"The laboratories tell us that, for now, they do not have a dose to negotiate directly with private companies", confirms Belocopitt
.
He assures that they are not in a position to lean towards a brand and that, on the contrary, they are "
open to chat with everyone
.
"
For Belocopitt, "vaccine production has to grow in the coming months."
"When that happens, we will have greater access opportunities," he remarks.
And he clarifies that "in case of obtaining a vaccine, it will advance
in tune with the State
."
“I mean that the way forward will be outlined in relation to the distribution of these doses as a whole.
The objective is to
respect certain guidelines related to the age or risk of those who receive them
.
It is a very delicate issue and you have to take it that way ”, he adds.
Clarín's
query
arises after the Chief of Cabinet, Santiago Cafiero, clarified that the national government
is not the only one authorized
to buy vaccines.

“There is an error that is being magnified and that way one does not stop to explain everything.
The provinces and the City Government can buy vaccines on their own and private ones too.
It is not prohibited in Argentina, ”Cafiero said last Wednesday in statements to TN.
And he stressed that "
in the vaccine law
that was approved last year is very clear."
Then, he added that "with the level of scarcity that exists, anyone who goes out to the market to buy is going to get them for who knows what month."
What the regulations say
Pablo Yedlin, president of the Deputies' Commission for Social Action and Public Health, explains that “any private person (whether it is a drugstore, pharmacy, clinic or vaccination) can buy medicines that are registered by the ANMAT" and that "vaccines are included in the normative".
In this sense, it specifies that they could advance from the private sector with doses of
Pfizer
and
AstraZeneca
, both authorized by ANMAT.
Another should be the tour with the Sputnik V and Sinopharm vaccines, which were recommended by ANMAT and approved by the Ministry of Health.
"For the latter, the Government should authorize the entry batch by batch," he adds.
There are other vaccines such as Moderna and Johnson & Johnson that are not yet registered with ANMAT.
"It would be necessary to fulfill this requirement
before its acquisition.
It is something easy to achieve because they are developments that have already been approved by the FDA (Food and Drugs Administration)," says Yedlin.
However, for the national deputy for Tucumán
“there is no market to add to the private ones
so,
for the moment, they are only hypotheses. "
“The laboratories have promised millions of doses that they did not deliver.
Pfizer, for its part, arranged to give Brazil about 100 million doses.
There is a long delay ”, he warns.
As a last point, it highlights that the law that was enacted in relation to Covid 19 contemplates the removal of customs taxes and VAT on vaccines against the coronavirus for the acquisition by the
"Nation and the provinces"
,
but
not so for the private ones.
“They are extras that, if not eliminated, will impact the final value of the vaccine.
Likewise, there is no need to anticipate: it may be that, by the time that private individuals come to buy doses, those of Covid 19 are already included in the mandatory vaccination schedule and, therefore, they will
be exempt
from paying taxes, "he details. .
Faced with this complex scenario, with a total of 2,551,999 infected since the beginning of the pandemic and 57,957 fatalities, not only private companies are trying to open the dialogue to obtain doses.
The City and the provinces of Mendoza, Córdoba, Santa Fe and Entre Ríos are already facing the same search, although they agree that, in this instance, obtaining vaccines will not be easy.
