A bus with retirees from Cordoba and Santa Fe who was doing a

tourist tour

of Patagonia was stopped at the access to Río Gallegos, in Santa Cruz, for a control.

The result was alarming: of the 31 passengers,

25 tested positive for coronavirus.

The event occurred this Monday afternoon when the contingent was traveling from Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, and

intended to reach El Chaltén.

But they were stopped at the Chimen Aike roadside post, where a health check was carried out.

The tests carried out determined that almost all retirees,

25 of the 28

, had coronavirus.

In addition, in the tourist bus, they traveled

three employees of the transport company, who tested negative, so a total of 31 people were on board the unit.

The Government of Santa Cruz, through an official statement from the Ministry of Health and Environment, reported that

the entire contingent was placed in isolation

in a provincial sports shelter: at Professor Emilio García Pacheco, located in Río Gallegos.

The contingent must now remain isolated for

at least seven days

in the capital of Santa Cruz.

At least, until a new PCR is performed to determine if they are discharged.

"The monitoring will be carried out and, in a joint effort with the Ministry of Social Development, passengers will receive assistance in terms of food and bedding during the days of isolation," the provincial entity indicated.

What is significant is that the last governmental DNU established with the new restrictions due to the second wave of Covid-19,

prohibits the travel of contingents

.

The decree that prohibits tourist contingents

The decree, specifies in article 11, which

suspends throughout the national territory group trips

, of Graduates, Retirees, Study or unofficial sports competitions;

and also of tourist groups.

Local media reported that so far some retirees have

mild symptoms and several are asymptomatic

.

However, due to their age, they are risk patients, so they are constantly being monitored.

The Santa Cruz leaders showed concern about the situation.

And now measures are being articulated to find out how the tourist contingent could pass through the controls that should exist between Ushuaia and Río Gallegos.
