(ANSA) - ROME, APRIL 13 - In February the seasonally adjusted index of industrial production increased by 0.2% compared to January.

In the average of the December-February quarter, the level of production grew by 0.6% compared to the previous three months.

Corrected for calendar effects, in February 2021 - the month immediately preceding the restrictions linked to the health emergency - the overall index decreased compared to February 2020 in terms of 0.6% (the calendar working days were 20, as in February 2020).

These are the estimates on industrial production released today by Istat.

"In February, the economic trend of industrial production is still positive after the growth of the previous two months. Even on the average of the last three months, the economic trend is favorable. Among the main sectors of activity, however, only consumer goods recorded an increase on a monthly basis. trend terms, compared to February 2020, the level of the index corrected for calendar effects is 0.6% lower. At the sector level, the greater dynamism of intermediate goods is confirmed, the sole sector growing compared to a year earlier ".

This is the comment of Istat.

"Data certainly not exciting, but it could have been worse.

The annual fall was obvious and inevitable, given that February 2020 is the last pre-lockdown month and, therefore, pre-crisis, but it is contained. Good instead that there is an increase in January , even secerto is just above zero. In short, it ends with a draw away from home, "said Massimiliano Dona, president of the National Consumers Union.
