(ANSA) - BEIJING, APRIL 13 - Joshua Wong was sentenced to 4 months in prison for an unauthorized demonstration held in Hong Kong in October 2019 and for the violation of the law against the use of masks in protests. Wong, 24 and a well-known face of the former colony's pro-democracy activists, is among the 47 people accused of violating the national security law imposed by Beijing on the city.
The activist, pleading guilty to both counts, is serving a sentence of 13 and a half months in prison, again due to an illegal demonstration in June 2019, as part of anti-government and pro-reform protests. (HANDLE).
