(ANSA) - ROME, APRIL 12 - One month after his death, Maxxi remembers Giovanni Gastel by publishing on April 13 on the museum's social channels the video recorded during the meeting "Dare del tu alla bellezza", a special evening spent in the company of the great photographer and Davide Rondoni as part of the last edition of Summer at MAXXI.
"Beauty has no boundaries. Beauty is a way of seeing the universe. And it passes through all forms of art and our very lives, which can be and become beautiful", Gastel said on that occasion and it is precisely with these are the words that MAXXI chooses to remember him.
Gastel had been the protagonist at MAXXI of the retrospective The People I like, an extraordinary selection of the "portraits of the soul" collected by the master over the course of a forty-year career.
A labyrinth of faces, poses, dreams of characters from the world of culture, design, art, fashion, music, entertainment, politics.
Each character he portrays, from Barack Obama to Marco Pannella to Bebe Vio, emanates a special light, in the smile in the look and in the attitude.
And the same empathy that was born between him and the people photographed was passed on to the museum public, who loved the exhibition immensely.
The tribute of 13 April, specified by Maxxi, is the first of a series of initiatives that the museum will dedicate to the master of Italian photography in the world.
