Worldwide shipments of PCs (desktops, notebooks and workstations) grew in the first quarter of 2021 (January, February, March), with a + 55.2% compared to the same period of 2020. analysis company Idc, which reports how, in this first part of the year, 83,981 million devices were shipped, a clear leap forward compared to the 54,123 of the first quarter of 2020.

Jitesh Ubrani, research manager for IDC's Mobile Device Trackers, said: "The unsatisfied demand from last year continued into the first quarter, coupled with that caused by the pandemic, which generated high sales volumes. market continues to do well, despite the shortage of components and logistical problems, which have contributed to the increase in average prices ".

According to analysts, at the end of 2020 the PC supply chain failed to respond to the strong demand for remote working and distance learning products.

For this, a large number of back orders have been created.

The rising curve of the first quarter of 2021 is a consequence of this request, which should persist for at least the entire first half of the current year.

In the particular ranking, the manufacturer that recorded the highest number of products shipped is Lenovo, with 20,401 units, followed by HP with just over 19,000.

In third place Dell Technologies, with almost 13,000 devices.

But it is Apple that has obtained the largest increase, with a growth of 111.5% on the same quarter of last year, even if with a much lower market share (8%) compared to the first three positions (24.3% , 22.9% and 15.4%).
