The Serpent: Where to see the new series with Tahar Rahim?

Produced by the BBC, Le Serpent traces the story of a serial killer raging in Asia in the 1970s. To play the character of Ch


Discovered in 2009 in the film A Prophet by Jacques Audiard which won him the Oscar for Best Actor in 2010, Tahar Rahim this time dons the costume of Charles Sobhraj, a French serial killer guilty of more than fifteen murders.

Against the backdrop of the hippie movement, the man nicknamed the Snake drugged, executed and stole the identity of multiple backpackers traveling in Southeast Asia.

Helped by his wife, Marie-Andrée Leclerc, played by actress Jenna Coleman (Clara Oswald in Doctor Who), Charles Sobhraj escaped the police for many years.

The Serpent, available on Netflix, focuses mainly on the hunt for this murderous couple and their run which started in Bangkok before taking them to India and Malaysia.

Subscribers to the streaming service can watch the 8 episodes of 59 minutes, which retrace the manhunt led by a Dutch diplomat named Herman Knippenberg.

Thanks to his investigation, Charles Sobhraj is now behind bars in a Nepalese prison.

Although The Serpent is still alive, Tahar Rahim made the choice not to meet him, for ethical reasons, which did not prevent the actor from delivering an excellent performance.

For this role, Tahar Rahim has indeed undergone an impressive metamorphosis.

It thus appears the long hair and the face deformed by facial prostheses.
