The death of a young black man, killed by police during a tragic police check, has rekindled tension in Minneapolis.

This is a new dramatic event that comes on top of an already tense situation.

Sunday at Brooklyn Center, in the suburbs of Minneapolis (United States), a police intervention during a control turned to the tragedy and a young African-American of 20 years, Daunte Wright, was killed by shooting.

According to the police, while checking the young driver for a problem of invalid license plates, the police officers realized that he was also the subject of an arrest warrant and tried to stop him.

But in a few seconds, while the young man seems to resist and want to get back behind the wheel, the situation escalates completely.

“Watching the video and listening to the agent's orders, I think the agent intended to use her Taser (

Electric Pulse Pistol, Editor's note

) but instead she shot Mr. Wright with a single bullet, ”explained the local police chief.

On the video from the camera carried by the policewoman involved in the young man's death, we can indeed hear him shout "Taser!"

Repeatedly, while pointing his gun at the driver.

“Oh shit, I shot him!

», We hear him say at the end of the video.

Since then, several protests have taken place in Minneapolis, where a curfew has been declared.

The city was already living under tension, especially since the start of the trial of Derek Chauvin, this police officer accused of the death of George Floyd, last May, during an arrest that shocked the world.
