(ANSA) - NEW YORK, APRIL 13 - The former Miramax boss HarveyWeinstein has been accused by the Los Angeles prosecutor of eleven sexual offenses.
The charges were announced at a hearing convened in the state of New York to decide whether the former producer should be transferred to California for re-trial.
Weinstein is already serving a 23-year sentence in a New York state prison.
During the hearing, his lawyer argued that the former "king of Hollywood" cannot travel due to his precarious state of health: he would have practically lost his sight and underwent various dental operations.
The court decided to postpone the decision until April 30 and gave the defense a week to respond to the extradition request.
The charges, relating to crimes that were allegedly committed between 2004 and 2013 against five victims, coincide with those made public last fall by the Los Angeles prosecutor's office.
They include four cases of rape, four other cases of oral sex, two of sexual assault and one of penetration with the use of force.
If convicted, Weinstein risks a sentence of up to 140 years in prison which would add to those he is already serving.
