This affects the chat function of the messenger service.
More precisely, there should be an innovation in the reception of images.
So far, only a small image preview appears for images that have been sent - this is now set to change.
The format of the preview image should be different in the future in order to enable a larger preview image.
This should make chats clearer.
According to WABetaInfo, the innovation is already integrated in the beta versions for iOS and Android devices and is being extensively tested there by beta users.
WaBetaInfo had already published information on an innovation regarding WhatsApp voice messages at the end of March.
They revealed that the playback speed of voice messages could be changed in the future.

The pictures clearly show the difference between the old version with the small preview image and the new version.
On the left picture you can see the message with the old preview picture, which barely shows the picture.
In contrast to the new version (right), in which the preview image can be seen much better.
The new version shows more at first glance and thus provides a better overview in the chats of the messenger service.
The change is not yet available to everyone
Since the change is still in the beta test phase, the update may take a few more weeks.
Depending on how many errors are found, it can take a while until the new feature is available for every WhatsApp user.
In addition to this change, the messenger service apparently wants to allow chats to be transmitted to smartphones with different operating systems in the future.
