Usually nothing exciting happens during renovations.

But every now and then homeowners make strange discoveries - as in this case too.

Odd things pop up on the internet from time to time, like a strangely constructed bathroom *.

Some people use social media to showcase the horrific apartment in New York City.

Others vent their anger here.

Or share valuable kitchen and cleaning tips, for example to get the burned pan clean with a tea bag.

Still others share strange discoveries that have been made around the home.

Huge Monopoly board discovered - while carpet was torn open

As a post on the

reddit

platform

shows, a huge Monopoly game board was discovered under the carpet during the renovation work.

Apparently the game was painted on the wooden floor below.

The homeowners didn't seem to have known about the existence of the large game board - it had been hidden under the carpet for more than 30 years.

As the user who shared the picture describes, the

find was made in the house of the in-laws

.

It is unclear whether they have put a new carpet over it or not.

From the comments, however, it can be seen that the use of epoxy resin to protect the surface was under discussion.

This means that the Monopoly board does not have to be covered again.

Monopoly fund apparently not uncommon

From the comments below the post it can also be seen that this find does not seem to be uncommon.

Some others comment that houses with game boards as flooring have already appeared.

As someone writes: “When I showed this to my wife, she reminded me that there is a whole neighborhood near us that was built in the

mid-1950s with game boards painted or tiled in the basement floors

.

Seems to have been a selling point or something. ”Whether that was an argument in favor of selling houses * or just a hip trend of the time can only be speculated.

The

reddit

users are happy about the find and at least think back to games from childhood.
