The IMF invites Europe to further stimulate measures: "Not an indiscriminate and permanent spending package but targeted and temporary measures on the demand and supply side". (HANDLE)

(ANSA) - NEW YORK, APRIL 14 - The IMF invites Europe to further stimulus measures: "Not a package of indiscriminate and permanent spending but targeted and temporary measures on the front of supply and demand".

This additional stimulus, assumed to be 3% of GDP in 2021-2022, can increase GDP by 2% by the end of 2022.

"Europe is at a turning point. Even if the pace of vaccinations is still slow, we can see a light at the bottom of the pandemic tunnel". This was stated by Alfred Kammer, head of the European Department of the IMF, underlining that growth is uneven but Europe's GDP is expected to return to pre-pandemic levels in 2022. "With hard work on the production and distribution of vaccines, continued support and policies innovative to combat economic scars, Europe can have a V-shaped recovery that is fairer and more resilient. "

The size of the European recovery plan is currently sufficient, says Kammer. (HANDLE).
