Virginia Begnis, hairdresser in Nice, resolved to live in the back room of her hairdressing salon, while the shopkeeper was hard

Since July 1, 2020, Virginia Begnis has been living in her hairdressing salon in Nice.

After losing nearly 50% of her turnover, she had to choose between her apartment, or the profession she has been doing for 30 years.

Basic kitchen, makeshift bathroom and boxes on top of each other, at age 49, Virginia survives in the waiting room of her business while waiting to find new accommodation.

The sale of her apartment only allows her to continue paying the rent and the hairdressing salon charges.

Originally from Lyon, she can only count on the help of her friends and clients, who are much less numerous since the appearance of Covid-19.

Fortunately, Virginia arrived in Nice 25 years ago, and opened this hairdressing salon in 2010. She therefore knows all the traders in the street, who did not hesitate to help her.

The butcher's shop, the greengrocer, the bakery or even the wine merchant, all help her to do her shopping at the lowest price, so that she doesn't miss anything.

The manager is well aware that living in premises for commercial purposes is prohibited by law.

It is therefore possible that she will be deported, although the risks are minimal.
