The cabriolant masterpiece of Christian-Jaque with Gérard Philipe is restored in 4K. The actor's daughter hails the “modernity” of this classic.


It took place under the light and smiling French sky, in the midst of the "lace war" under Louis XV in 1756. Having told a little peasant girl in the shade of a cozy haystack, a mischievous young man named Fanfan (Gérard Philipe) enlists in the French army to escape a marriage which he does not care about.

He does so with all the more conviction that on the way to church, a pretty gypsy (Gina Lollobrigida) predicted a brilliant career for him and even his future marriage to the king's daughter ...
