(ANSA) - SAN PAOLO, APRIL 20 - Youtube has removed a video in which the Brazilian president defended the use of hydroxychloroquine against Covid-19, an antimalarial drug deemed ineffective for coronavirus by the scientific community.
The video was released by the denier president last January 14, when a new strain was identified in the Amazon that had increased contagions exponentially.
It is the first time that Youtube has censored a video from Bolsonaro's channel.
The Brazilian president, who in the video was alongside the then Minister of Health Eduardo Pazuello, defended a preventive therapy based on hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin, two drugs not recommended by the international scientific community. The use of ivermectin against Covid-19 has even been banned in the European Union by the EMA.
"They don't hurt, I know at least 200 people who have been treated like this and didn't end up in hospital", said Bolsonaro in the video, who also criticized the use of a mask and social distancing. (HANDLE).
