From the pandemic to the relaunch, the role of biotechnology

The demands of the biotech world to the Government are at the center of 'Biotech, the better future: the importance of the ecosystem for the relaunch of the country' live streaming from 5 pm (ANSA)


More than a year has passed since the outbreak of the Coronavirus emergency in the world.

A year in which biotechnologies have shown the crucial role of the sector for all to see.

With tangible answers to study, know and then stop the pandemic: from virus sequencing, to molecular diagnostics, to vaccines, to developing monoclonal antibodies.

But also with concrete proposals for a recovery and restart of the country capable of reconciling, for the first time, economic development and sustainability.

According to OECD estimates, in 2030 biotechnologies will have an enormous weight in the world economy: in fact, 80% of pharmaceutical products, 50% of agricultural products, 35% of chemical and industrial products will be biotech to account for 2.7% of global GDP overall. A sector that proves to be dynamic: 80% of the biotechnology industry in Italy is made up of small and micro-sized companies, between 2017 and 2019 over 50 new innovative startups active in biotechnology were registered, another 44 only in first 9 months of 2020.

The demands of the biotech world to the Government is at the center of 'Biotech, the better future: the importance of the ecosystem for the relaunch of the country' live streaming from 5 to 6.15 pm organized by Federchimica Assobiotec, a reality that represents 130 companies and parks technological and scientific operating in Italy.
