The adaptation on the big screen of the soap opera "Belle et Sébastien", the spectacular action film by Luc Besson "The Fifth Element", a doc

ADVENTURES.

Good dog dog

At 9:05 p.m. on W9.

It was a risky bet for Nicolas Vanier.

In 2013, the famous adventurer of the Far North, already film author of “Loup” and “Last Trapper” was entrusted with the production of “Belle et Sébastien”, the adaptation on the big screen of Cécile Aubry's successful soap opera, which delighted the ORTF in the mid-1960s. At the time, it was the director's son, Mehdi, who played the title role.

That of an orphan and lonely kid whose best friend is a big white dog named Belle.

In Nicolas Vanier's feature film, the action takes place during World War II, in 1943, in a small snow-covered village in the Alps invaded by the Germans. Sébastien, played by Félix Bossuet, a little Parisian chosen from among two thousand candidates, sees this big endearing doggie, suspected by the villagers of killing their sheep. They want to get rid of it. But Sébastien does not hear it that way ...

The bet is finally successful for Nicolas Vanier, who at the time had attracted nearly 3 million spectators in theaters, when the film was released.

“Belle et Sébastien” was then the subject of two suites in 2015 and 2017 created by Christian Duguay and Clovis Cornillac.

This first part remains a moving story carried by the beautiful bond between the child and his dog, authentic characters, such as Sébastien's grandfather embodied by a formidable Tchéky Karyo, and the beauty of the alpine landscapes.

All of this makes this feature film great family entertainment, perfect for that week of school vacations.

EDITOR'S RATING: 4/5

SCIENCE-FICTION.

Wonder woman

In "The Fifth Element", Milla Jovovich passionately interprets the fascinating character of Leeloo.

Gaumont

At 9:05 pm on France 2.

In the XXIIIth century, Korben, rebellious taxi driver and brawler, welcomes a strange young woman stricken with amnesia, Leeloo, hunted down by the police And mysterious killers. When he discovers that it constitutes the last piece of a puzzle intended to save humanity against entities who want to annihilate it, he embarks it across the galaxy… Spectacular, hair-raising, explosive, "the Fifth Element" , directed by Luc Besson in 1997 from a screenplay he wrote when he was a teenager, achieves a brilliant synthesis between several genres: action comedy, science fiction, superhero film, thriller and romance.

Staged at full speed, the film, which benefits from inventive special effects, owes a lot to Bruce Willis, tongue-in-cheek full of muscles and revolt, and to Milla Jovovich, who passionately interprets the fascinating character of Leeloo.

EDITOR'S RATING: 4/5

Love inquiries

In “Tandem”, Astrid Veillon (Léa) and Stéphane Blancafort (Paul) investigate as a family.

FTV / DEMD Productions / Fabien Malot

At 9:05 pm on France 3.

It is the return of the duo of investigators, Léa Soler and Paul Marchal, interpreted by Astrid Veillon and Stéphane Blancafort, gendarmes but also ex-couple in the city and parents of two teenagers. These two are having a hard time rebuilding their lives without each other. Tinted with jealousy and teasing, their relationship comes to interfere in their investigations under the sun of Montpellier.

The recipe for the detective series is used here to the limit, with somewhat simplistic intrigues.

The characters lack credibility like this commander played by Astrid Veillon, who brings small dishes to her colleagues or swaps her sneakers for pumps when she arrives at the barracks.

But the actress brings a nice freshness to this fiction.

There are also touches of humor, which make it all light, unfussy, and quite effective on arrival.

EDITOR'S RATING: 2.5 / 5

“Tandem”

Two 45-minute episodes.

DOCUMENTARY.

When Raoult is scary

At 9:05 p.m. on RMC Story

. “There are three Chinese who are dying and it makes a world alert. “A year ago, Marseille epidemiologist Didier Raoult became the ephemeral star of the pandemic with his chloroquine treatment method. This rebel with long hair and a white goatee, 69 years old, was telling the world. He was talking everywhere. In this documentary, he is with absent subscribers, just like his colleague who physically threatened on Twitter all those who dared to question his master's research.

This is what is scary in this investigation, beyond a medical controversy: the fans of Raoult constitute a close guard and a pack which does not hesitate to show the teeth, even more.

We also learn that the Institute of the virologist owes more than 1 million euros to Urssaf.

More fun: his first interviews at 30 or 40, without a beard or long hair.

Raoult is a real researcher.

Driven to fault and especially to excess by his desire to be adulated.

EDITOR'S RATING: 3/5

"The hidden face of Didier Raoult: the underside of an incredible controversy"

, unpublished documentary by Manon Bachelot.

Duration: 52 min.

FANTASTIC.

Second round in the labyrinth

Dylan O'Brien once again plays the hero of "The Labyrinth: Scorched Earth".

Fox

At 9:05 p.m. on TF1.

In the future, having succeeded in extricating themselves from the labyrinth where they were stuck, a group of teenagers discover that they are being manipulated by a pharmaceutical laboratory thinking they have found a solution to stop a global virus that turns humans into zombies.

The heroes try to escape this firm… Continuation of the very successful “Labyrinth”, this second part turns out to be less original than the first.

It takes up situations, characters and sets already seen in other fantastic films, but deserves the detour for its spectacular scenes and its scenario which draws on Greek tragedies.

EDITOR'S RATING: 3/5

“The Labyrinth: Scorched Earth”
