Israeli actors Shira Haas and Amit Rahav won the Independent Spirit awards ceremony for their acting appearances in Netflix's "Rebel" mini-series.

The big winner was the movie "Land of the Nomads," just before the Oscars on Sunday night. 

Haas, who has been nominated for numerous awards in the past year for her performance including the Emmy and Golden Globe Awards, won the award for Best Actress in a New TV Series and immediately afterwards Rahav was also announced as the winner in the Best Actor category.

"Thank you very much, I did not expect it," Haas said briefly in a video speech, thanking her family members and the entire "rebel" family.

The two were not the only Israeli winners at the ceremony.

Israeli director and photographer Shaul Schwartz, who lives in New York, won with his co-creators in the documentary series category on Netflix's 'Immigration State,' which examined U.S. policy toward immigrants during Trump's tenure.
