For the second consecutive day, India recorded the world record of new coronavirus cases: 332,730 in the last 24 hours, for a total of 16 million.

The Guardian reports this, citing data from the Ministry of Health.

The number of deaths also surged, 2,263 in a single day, 186,920 since the start of the Covid pandemic.

Meanwhile, the oxygen emergency continues in hospitals.

Six facilities in New Delhi have run out of supplies since last night.

Thirteen patients with Covid-19 died this morning in a fire that broke out in a hospital on the outskirts of Mumbai (formerly Bombay), the largest city in India. "Seventeen patients were in the intensive care unit of Vijay Vallabh Hospital when the fire took place: 13 died and the other four were transferred to other facilities," the firefighters said. "The fire has now been extinguished," they added stating that the fire started around 3 am (11:30 pm yesterday in Italy) GMT) for reasons that are still unclear.
