against amateur chefs instead of celebrities

in his TV show "

Grill den Henssler

".

The participants could apply in advance by video.

One of them was the tattoo artist and piercer Pascal Rodermund, who was responsible for the intermediate course.

And he created an old family

and bacon strips *. Rodermund also delivered a nice story: The recipe came about in an emergency. “My grandma worked as a kitchen maid for a count. Recipe from “Grill den Henssler”: Eifel dumplings à la creme with apple-raisin chutney and bacon

Ingredients for 3 servings:

For the dumplings:

  • 100 g wheat flour (type 405)

  • 35 ml of sparkling mineral water

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 egg

For the light sauce:

  • 200 ml of cream

  • 200 ml of milk

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • Salt, pepper and nutmeg

For the apple chutney:

  • 400 g apples

  • 2 shallots

  • 1/2 red chilli pepper

  • 200 ml apple cider vinegar

  • 50 ml apple juice

  • 1 bay leaf

  • 2 teaspoons of gingerbread spice

  • 70 g raisins

  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

Also:

  • 3 bacon strips

  • 100 g bacon cubes

  • 1 tbsp butter

Another note:

In Pascal Rodermund's original recipe, the dumplings are also decorated with coral sticks.

How to make the Eifel dumplings à la creme with apple-raisin chutney from "Grill den Henssler"

  • Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.

  • For the chutney:

    peel and core the apples, peel and dice the shallots.

    Then boil down all the other ingredients for the chutney in a saucepan for about 20 minutes so that a compact consistency is created.

  • Bake 3 strips of bacon between parchment paper and a weight in the oven for 15 minutes until crispy.

  • For the dumplings:

    Mix the flour, water, egg and salt well with a whisk.

    Use 2 metal spoons to form cams out of the dough and pour them directly into boiling water with the spoons.

    Dip this into hot water beforehand so that the dough does not stick.

    Let the dumplings cook for about 12 to 15 minutes.

    Then take the dumplings out of the water with a slotted spoon and let them drain.

  • For the light sauce: reduce the

    cream, milk and butter in a saucepan until a creamy mixture is formed.

  • Leave the bacon in the pan and add the butter.

  • Serving

    :

    First the chutney, then the flour dumplings on top, drizzle with the sauce.

    Sprinkle with the crispy bacon cubes, decorate each with a bacon strip.
